2018 Brings New Head Coach and New President

Darren Edwards named Head Football Coach

The 1st officiall decision that was made by new Sting President was to name Darren Edwards as the teams new head football coach. Coach Edwards brings a wealth of knowledge to the coaching staff.

Coach Edwards is currently on the coaching staff at Highland Park HS. Darren also helps oversea the Frogtown Football program and the Family First Basketball program. His dedication to giving back to the youth in St. Paul is amazing and he treats every kids as if they were his own.

Darren began his minor league football playing career for the MN Phoenix who closed their doors after the 2011 season. In 2012 Darren joined the Sting and became an instant leader for the program. Leading the way to for this program to be a 2 time League Championships and National Runner Up title. As a player Darren was the Semi Pro Elite Player of the year, rushed for an about 3,000 career yards with a season high of 1,435. Darren is the all time season and career rushing yard leader as well as the Season and Career Touchdown leader. 

As head football coach Darren Edwards has said he would lift the Sting back up to the days when it was rare to see a loss. His goals are to recruit players that want to help build this program back up and want to be part of the Sting Family.

Justin Hood Named New Team President

With the retirement of Brad Asplund after 10 years of running the Sting Justin Hood was given the reins to put his own twist on the Sting. Justin has been part of the Sting program since 2011 and was named the teams Vice President in 2017.
