To review last Saturday's game against the Minneapolis Warriors, here are 3 things to improve on for this Saturday's game against the Fargo Invaders.
Offense. Keep the ball and score points!: Last week against the Warriors, the Sting couldn't keep the ball on offense for long drives and in result they couldn't score TDs, let alone get into FG range. Against the Invaders this week, we need to keep the ball on offense which means we need to convert on 3rd down and hopefully this will result in longer drives to keep the opposing offense on the sidelines longer also in the hopes of scoring TDs.
Defense. Prevent the deep ball!: Last week against the Warriors, the Sting's defense allowed their offense many opportunities to throw the ball deep and more often than not they were successful especially in late game situations. In order for this not to happen against us again this week, our defense has to be working together as a unit. That means all 11 guys have to be fundamentally sound and know their assignments on every play. Great defenses win games.
Special Teams. Block well in all phases. Last week against the Warriors, when our kicking team got an opportunity to score for us, we were denied by a FG block. In order for this not to happen again, our kicking phase needs to be in sync. Not only does this mean that the kicker, holder and the long snapper needs to be on the same page but this also means that the blockers need to be on the same page as well. Kicking a FG is a team game as well so everyone from the kicker to the blockers need to be in sync in order to be successful in a FG attempt.
